How to adjust field details and boundaries?

Name, size and boundaries of your customers' fields can be adjusted in Megalab by following these steps:

 

 

1) Access the field editor

 

  1. Log in to your Megalab account.
  2. Megalab opens. Click on MY CUSTOMERS in the left navigation bar.Mycustomers.png
  3. The customers page with the customers list opens. In the fields column you can see how many fields already exist for each customer.
  4. Click on the customer for whom you want to adjust the field.Selectcustomer.png
  5. The customer's page with the list of fields opens. Click on the name of the field you want to edit to open it.Adjustfield1.png
  6. The field page opens and you can see the field details and sample history. Click on the MODIFY FIELD button to open the field editor.Adjustfield2.png

 

 

2) Adjust field details

 

  1. In the field editor, change field reference and size by entering a new value in the input boxes. The field size also adjusts automatically while adjusting the field boundaries.Adjustfield3.png
  2. When done, click on the SAVE FIELD button to save the changes. Click on the x next to the page title 'Edit field' to discard the changes.

3) Adjust field boundaries

 

In the field editor you can adjust the existing field boundary by either adjusting the field boundary points on the map or uploading an updated shapefile.

 

 

Draw the boundary

 

Before you start, please note:

 

  • The minimum field size is 100 m² (0.01 ha). Smaller sizes are not supported due to the satellite data provider.

 

Adjust the boundary on the map by following these steps:

 

  1. Select the OUTER BORDER drawing tool to adjust the field boundary.
    • Use the mouse scroller or the + and - buttons in the lower right corner of the map to zoom into the map and enlarge the field for more precise editing.
    • Hold the boundary points with the mouse and drag them to the desired position on the map.
  2. Select the DELETE POINT drawing tool to delete a boundary point. Click on the point to be deleted.Adjustfield.gif
  3. Select START OVER to delete the complete field boundary and draw a new one.
    • A window opens to confirm the action by clicking on START OVER. Click on GO BACK to discard the changes.
  4. When done, click on the SAVE FIELD button to save the changes. Click on the x next to the page title 'Edit field' to discard the changes.Adjustfield6.png

 

 

Upload the field boundary

 

A file with field boundaries is usually provided by the local authority that registers field boundaries. Otherwise, they might be downloadable from farm management tools.

 

Before you start, please note:

 

  • Fields can only be uploaded in shapefile (.shp) format.
  • A valid shapefile needs to consist of 4 files, .dbf, .shp, .shx and .prj.
  • The shapefile must be uploaded as a ZIP (.zip) file.
  • The minimum field size for the upload is 100 m² (0.01 ha). Smaller sizes are not supported due to the satellite data provider.

 

This is how you upload the field boundary:

 

  1. Click on UPLOAD SHAPE FILE at the bottom of the input mask.Uploadfield2.png
  2. The file explorer of your computer opens. Navigate to the storage location of the file to be uploaded, select the file and click OPEN.
  3. The file will be uploaded to Megalab. If errors occur during this process, please send the file you are trying to upload to our support team and we will help you with the upload.
  4. A note opens to inform, that the uploaded file contains field shapes without link to their field references. Click on the START MATCHING button to match the field shapes to add them as new fields.Uploadfield3.png
  5. A map with the uploaded field shape opens. Click on the shape that belongs to the field to be added.Uploadfield4.png
  6. Click on the MATCH button in the box at the bottom left.Uploadfield5.png
  7. A tick on the selected shape and a link icon next to the field name indicate that the shape has been linked to the field. To unlink the shape, click on the link icon.Uploadfield6.png
  8. Click on the SAVE FIELD button to save the field. Click on the x next to the page title EDIT FIELD to discard the changes.Uploadfield7.png
